Eco-Friendly Reed Diffuser
Evelyn also showed us how to make eco-friendly Reed Diffusers:
- Select a clear glass vase that has a large enough mouth to hold stones and reedsĀ
- Choose stones you like, they can be natural river pebbles or clear or colored glass stones
- Reeds
- The essential oil of your choice
[Note: the vase, stones and reeds can be found at Pottery Barn]
Gently put the stones into your glass vase, arrange your reeds, then at the top of each reed drip one drop of essential oil. The scent of the essential oil usually lasts 1-2 months depending upon the natural strength of the essential oil.
Optional: fill your vase with stones 2/3 of the way, put a thin layer of dried rose petals, then add more stones.
Making a Reed Diffuser in this way will eliminate the need for a petroleum based oil that is toxic and will require emptying and cleaning periodically - you won't be putting petro-chemicals into the environment during usage or during clean-up!
